The Dr. Meas Chanrith Charitable Association would like to express its full support for the actions of the Royal Government of Cambodia in resolving the maritime disputes.✍Phnom Penh: On June 2, 2026, the Dr. Meas Chanrith Charitable Association issued an official petition expressing its full support for the actions of the Royal Government of Cambodia, under the leadership of His Excellency President Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, in officially notifying the Thai side and the United Nations to initiate the "Compulsory Conciliation" mechanism under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
In this petition, the association highlighted:
✍ The necessity of the action: This decision was made to protect Cambodia's sovereignty and maritime rights after the Thai government announced its withdrawal from the 2001 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
✍ Position: The Association highly appreciates the firm, good-willed and responsible stance of the Royal Government of Cambodia in choosing a peaceful solution in accordance with international law.
✍ Objective: The implementation of this mechanism is to protect the territorial integrity, national sovereignty and ensure lasting peace, stability and national development.
The Dr. Meas Chanrith Charitable Association expressed its strong belief in the efforts of the Royal Government to protect the supreme national interests on the international stage.
